This article describes how brutal mass rape has increased in the Congo, and most of the suspects are in the Republic's "police" force. Most of the time victims are females whose fathers, brothers, uncles, or sons are forced to rape them, and afterwards they are either killed or mutilated. There was brief mention that the "police" responsible for these crimes are likely the same people behind the mass murders in Rwanda years ago, but I am not very familiar with the genocide...I was wondering if anyone knew a possible motive behind these crimes?

Oh gosh that's horrible and depressing to know about this! I can't believe the Republic's police force as well as the patronized people or men in general would mutiliate, torture and murder the females like they are nothing at all!! I have been reading other articles relevant to your reaction, it appeared that women especially children first fought with the police force, which urged the police force to kill and attack them as a revenge? I suppose the statuses of the women are underrepresented in the country since they are stil inferior to men and their rights are being witheld for some reason.
I am very saddened by the article. I could not comprehend such atrocities against women at all. I found myself asking the same question as I was reading the article: what's the motive behind? Rape and sexual abuse are bad enough already; why do these rapists want to see male relatives raping their own family members? Such idea is so disturbing to me- how could they get pleasure out of it? Is it just for pleasure? Are there other reasons? And why do they like shooting or stabbing the raped women at the genital area in specific, as if just plainly shooting them is not enough?
